Monday morning and we wrapped up an amazing and energized race weekend at The Great American Speedway. Three days and six Revved Up Sports Show episodes live from the media center are the things that will make you look back and say; "Man, that is really awesome how that all worked out".
Our thanks to Bobby Newman and the great media folks at TMS that put all of our requests and on site together these folks are great to work with and everyone made sure we had everything we needed. Our crew came back well fed from tacos, fried chicken, bbq and the world famous nacho bar how much more Texas can we get!
Bobby Chaffee and Kevin McAdams just hit home runs no question using their talents to the maximum our entire trip. Great time right now for RPM RadioTX and great things to come soon.
All the shows archived at RPMRADIOTX.com.
Racing continues and so will our progress, thank you all for your support as we work to keep bringing Austin maximum race coverage.

It May Be Time..
As much as it kills me to do this I think I have to write this. The Central Texas Speedway situation has been a topic of conversation for several weeks. Whats next, why are in this mess all of that keeps being asked without any direction or real path for movement forward. I seemed to be placed in a spot where I could help keep things alive but the battle seemed nothing but uphill yet I did want to keep hope alive that we may be able to get something to happen although not being the property owner nor someone with amazing resources or financial backing ability part of me knew the writing was on that front stretch wall. Well today I saw some stuff that really leads me to believe that I need to face the fact that we all may need to embrace dirt track auto racing or find another hobby if that is not an option.
That being said I realize I may have called my last race for all of you great Texas asphalt race fans and race teams so I need to give many thanks! First, GOD put me in a position to become a race fan and pointed my dad Ben Rodriguez to take me racing every week as much as he could. Week after week we went to track after track and I studied the best race announcers there were and memorized every word they said and put them in a memory bank to use one day, I could recite what these guys said word by word.. that's even the TV guys that really called races the way they should be called, with passion and love. A Mr. Microphone way back when is how I learned to sound like those guys that did their jobs to the maximum ability. I could never learn how to memorize multiplication but knew every driver's number, hometown, sponsors and vital information from every track we went to growing up when I was a kid. I always wanted to be a race car driver but somehow I always felt a calling to race announcing no matter what happened.
Thankfully Mary Ann Naumann heard me one day messing around at Longhorn Speedway and never forgot that there may be some ability there. Bobby Chaffee and John Molis let an old washed up racer play along in 2008 at Crashfest at Thunderhill Raceway after Mary Ann's blessing and I am forever grateful and blessed for what these folks allowed me to do. Deb Williams gave me every tool I needed to succeed and sound like a pro, the fans jumped on and this has been a great ride in asphalt racing here in Texas. To say that I have worked at Houston Motorsports Park for Graham Baker and John Mandabach along with the Monroe family at CC Speedway is a huge honor and I am forever grateful for all of the following each track operator has allowed me to gain. Tavo Hellmond gave me a shot announce a NASCAR race and that can never be more appreciated. Tim Self brought me aboard to help a transition period that took my announcing career to a new level that made me more of an operations person and ambassador for Texas asphalt racing.
Brian Bohlen and Chris Saathoff gave me a chance to help revive a legend in SA Speedway and that was something I will never forget or under appreciate. So many other great people that have given thumbs up or kind words to the word I have done behind that mic or better yet in the stands each and every one of you are a friend for life I hope you know.
It has always been my goal for any race driver and team no matter entry level or top tier series/class to feel appreciated. All of you are ROCKSTARS and my goal has been for everyone to know that. I appreciate you all I hope you know.
So many opportunities have come from the generosity and appreciation of all of you, we are all going to keep racing and being race fans but I can tell you that the time we have shared "on the hill" has been my pleasure. Let's all look ahead, I heard something the other day that fits what is happening here. When we drive down the road we have a BIG windshield and a small rear view mirror and that's the idea wherever we all end up keep looking forward.
Most importantly my beautiful wife Tracy that has pushed me to chase this dream. Without her I would have never acted on this journey, she gave me confidence and assurance that I could do this. Our girls Kendall and Chloe and have always understood that dad's "other work" took up so much time.
I always ended a show with.. "I'll see you the next race; If I don't see you then I'll see you the next time I see you" hope everyone has a great 2017!

Super Bowl 51
So what is your plan for Super Sunday? This has become a national holiday friends, the biggest sporting event of the year!
Man the memories of big games and heroes being made in this one game.. Timmy Smith, Larry Brown all those that have had their day. Doug Williams, Joe Willie Namath and all those that had their breakout moment and become household superstars ya gotta love it.
Gone are the days of just the game, now this is a full fledged event. It's not just sports networks its all the media and all eyes of the world are on Houston, Texas.
Here's hoping Matty Ice is up for the stage against Tom Brady and the pesky Pats, hoping for one for the ages other than the Dallas/GB playoff game the post season has sucked.
Get your queso, bbq, dips, beer and good stuff ready!
Happy Super Bowl weekend!
I say Patriots 34 Falcons 20.

What's with all the Bowls..
I readily admit that I am older in my thoughts about many things so the bowls are no change from that. Although I think on this one I think I am little more on par, do you remember when all of these college football games, not just the January 1st at the time meant more? I remember randomly somehow being able to watch a random game on Raycom TV and it really seemed like a big deal! Those teams looked inspired and the crowd was full and totally all about the game. It seemed like teams worked really hard to get to some of these games even if it wasn't the Sugar, Orange, Cotton, Rose or later Fiesta.
Now it's the green participation ribbon deal, get to 6 wins (half your schedule) and you are in!!! Or you win 10-11 game and miss out. Nice! If you are REALLY lucky you can win 5 and sneak in. Have to give that one to Texas that they turned that possibility down. I think if everyone here went buck wild over a Heart of Texas Bowl win by a 5-7 team I would just go drive into Lake Pflugerville. Bowl system is flawed come off what is truly a magical time of year with amazing end of the season games, give the really superlative squads a month off and play 25 meaningless, half full games. Granted I know these games are a big deal for the schools and host cities in some cases in most cases probably even more than the school's teams playing but the all mighty corporate dollars have made these bowls more of a side show and exhibition.
It's Weds the 28th and the slate moving forward is a little better so brace yourself for the grand finale I'm sure a certain network has their eggs in every basket praying for an Urban Meyer/Nick Saban showdown.. I know I am!

CTS Update
If you missed the announcement on The Revved Up Sports Show tonight,
the scheduled CTS Banquet is back on. Same date January 21, 2017. New
site which will be announced next week but is within minutes of CTS.
Awards will be presented from the track as planned and the agenda will
be much the same. Please thank "The Picture Taker" Rachel Plant for
taking this task by the horns and re-constructing this event as well as
putting forth time and money to make this happen.
As prior there will be tickets available for purchase and if you had already purchased admission that will be handled. Venue details coming next week as well as times/agenda. As mentioned patience is appreciated and as you see with this good things happen.
There has been massive out cry and disappointment over the cancellation of this event I for one hope to lots of fanfare and POSITIVE words over this. It goes without saying not only here in our area but in short track racing in general we seem to be our biggest enemy, now with social media it has gotten 500 times worth. Angry folks with a keyboard is scary!
RPM and Revved Up will keep everyone in the loop.
Hey... XMAS is in 2 days.
Make Friday great!

Enough about the QB's !!
So here is what I knew would happen, just as it did Dak Prescott rebounded from that humiliating three point loss in the cold to a very good NYG offense. Tony Romo never had to come in and save the day even though Jerry Jones tries to add fuel to the fire all week with his remarks the rookie took care of business completing 31 of 36 passes (seriously?) against a good Tampa defense showing all of that poise that he somehow lost along the way and too this Dallas Cowboy team to 12-2 and one game within capturing home field throughout the playoffs.
Yep that happened... no QB controversy worries.
If you wanna worry about something worry about those damn NY Giants. They keep rolling along and I have said for weeks this squad looks like those last 2 Super Bowl G-Men teams. Quietly taking care of business rolling into the playoffs with Eli Manning guiding them through all of his shortcomings. Here is what keeps me awake at night (besides a monster toothache lately) this time around those damn Giants have a hell of defense that has taken care of Dallas twice already this season, yeah the 2 in 12-2. Jerry Reese went to the bank and bought that group what is a championship caliber winning defense Vernon, Jenkins and Harrison are monsters, JPP missed that last win over Dallas. Wade and Rodgers-Cromartie are more than capable than stopping the Dez/11/Williams attack as well so this has proven to be a struggle for Dallas. It has been said how hard it is to beat a team 3 times but Eli loves to play at Jerry's Joint. I think about that not when it's time for #9.
Detroit comes to town Monday then Philly to close it out. Hopefully the Cowboys take care of business Monday going to Philly to clinch the East and/or home field not something that has worked well in the past.
Texans, great call hope Tom Savage gets you where you plan to get.
